Project Name: |
Diagonal Wants to Walk
|
Project Purpose (Include city and state): |
The Diagonal Lions Club has been working hard replacing dilapidated sidewalk in Diagonal, Iowa. We have successfully completed Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Diagonal Downtown Beautification Project that included new sidewalk and lighting in the business district. These improvements enhanced the downtown corridor for the businesses and provided safer sidewalks for pedestrians. Phase 3 of the project includes reconstructing sidewalk between the business district and the K-12 high school to replace the existing sidewalk that has fallen into disrepair. Because of this, many children have to ride to school or walk down the street to school. This discourages walking to school, which is a very healthy behavior. |
